Financial mathematics programme has been designed to meet the increasing demand for financially and mathematically trained people as well as the interaction between the two, that will deal with the designing, constructing, analysing and managing of various financial products.

Students in financial mathematics programme will gain a wide range of skills and knowledge required by the modern financial and investment industry, such as technology skills, profound understanding of economics concepts, as well as knowledge on the operational aspects of financial and banking sectors. The students will also be exposed to the suitable software applications for solving and analysing any problems they encounter during their study.

The courses of financial mathematics offered include topics such as financial engineering, portfolio investment, operational research, currency and banking systems, financial management, linear algebra, numerical method, statistics and many more. Hence, financial mathematics students should expect to come across elements from several different sub-disciplines like economics, finance, applied mathematics and computational mathematics.

PROGRAMME’S OBJECTIVE

Our BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics programme will produce graduates who will:

PEO1: be able to use practical and technical skills in providing services to the community and the country (PLO1, PLO2);
PEO2: be able to lead and work in team to fulfill social responsibility and solve problems through effective communication (PLO3, PLO5, PLO6);
PEO3: always strive to enhance knowledge and ability to identify competitive business opportunities (PLO7, PLO8); and
PEO4: adopting pure, ethical and professional values in providing services (PLO4).

At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

PLO1 utilise the core and advanced knowledge in financial mathematics;
PLO2 analyse and interpret data used in the field of mathematical finance through practical and technical skills;
PLO3 portray social accountability and responsibility;
PLO4 uphold ethical and professional responsibilities in a committed manner based on the integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge;
PLO5 communicate effectively and demonstrate leadership skills in an environment which requires team work;
PLO6 critically solve problems involving related areas in financial mathematics;
PLO7 Practice and disseminate knowledge related to financial mathematics and show the desire for lifelong learning; and
PLO8 demonstrate entrepreneurship and management skills.

  3. Memimpin kesarjanaan sains dan teknologi dalam menghasilkan graduan holistik, seimbang dan berkeusahawanan demi pembangunan ummah.
